Registration and participation

Registration
To participate in the series, you have to register on the forum and post your driver name on this thread, S2 License name and chosen # on this thread [link]. Please attach your carpaint JPG to your registration post. You can only start in a race with having registered at least 24h before that race. Your registration will be confirmed once your name shows on driver list page.

Participation
By default there will be max 22 cars on the grid for each race. Thus there will be max 25 registered drivers getting "fully confirmed" status, which means these drivers definitely get a place on the grid. Additional drivers will get "reserve list" status and will only be able to race in case there will be less than 22 drivers show up for the current race.

Driver status
Drivers that have missed to show up on 2 races in a row or 3 races in total on the current or previous Speedsims' LFS series though having been registered, will automatically drop to "reserve list" status. Same goes for drivers that were not allowed to race for repeatedly obviously showing a serious lack of car control and track knowledge. Check drivers list page for your current status

SpeedSims Server Information

Race Server: SpeedSims

The race server is available 24/7.
A password to the server will be sent to drivers by private message prior to each race event.

Race procedure

Login to Race Server
At race start time, logon to race server (or even better about 15 min before).
Shut down any messaging programs before logging to race server.

Warm Up
There will be a warm-up run at start time to check internet lag. If some driver has a really bad connection and his car warps all over, he will be asked to leave.

Qualifying
At 22:00 CET/4pm EST we will start a 10 minute qualifying session. If you lose connection during qualifying you may reconnect to the server. During qualifying you are allowed to telepit.

Race Start
Right after qualifying we will immediately start the race. We will do a 1 lag lap then restart the race; there will be NO restarts after this so please use heads up smart driving. :) You will not be allowed to join the race after it has started. You cannot rejoin the race if you flip your car, thus your race will be over. If this happens please immediately get your car off the track by going into spectating mode.

Mandatory pit stop
One mandatory pit stop with full service; you must take 4 tires and fuel. Repairing damage is optional.

Race End
It is important to save the race replay at race end for eventually needed investigation on race incidents. Even if you have not been involved in any incident, your replay may be required for investigations and comparison to other driver's replays.

In case there'll be a mass disconnect because of server trouble (all driver dc) before 75% race length have been run, there'll be a restart of the race.

Racing Rules

General Racing Rules
Drivers must be familiar with their car and the track before entering competition. Drivers that act like they are not able to run a safe race may not be allowed to enter competetion. Practicing to get good knowledge of each specific track and the car's handling is mandatory before racing online. Drivers should never enter a race without having practiced before, as this would dramatically increase the likelyhood for race incidents.

We're driving as friends and thus gentlemen like sportsmanship is the required attitude for all drivers. Continuous violation of that axiom will not be tolerated, even if it doesn't go along with explicit rule breaking

Overtaking
The safety of overtaking another driver is the responsibility of the overtaking driver who attempts to make the pass. The driver in front is in responsibility of running a reasonable line. Cutting in even though the overtaking car already is on the inside next to your car isn't reasonable. Do not try to pass a car if it's not safe. Never launch any foolhardy overtaking attempts. Race incidents as a result of such misplaced strikes may be punished. It is in each driver's responsibility not to hit opponents' cars. Intentional hitting will result in disqualification.

Fighting
The driver in front has the right to chose line, but may not "sway" back and forth on straights to block an overtaking car. One "change of lanes" per straight is allowed to chose line into next corner.

Lapping/Blue Flags
A car that is about to be lapped must yield to the lapping car at least within one lap by giving room for overtaking at first safe opportunity. Intentional "bumping away" a car at lapping that didn't make place at first sight however is not allowed under any circumstances and will be severely punished. Please obey all Blue Flags.

Chatting
Chat messages are forbidden while a session is in progress. A qualifying session is considered to be active as soon as it begins and is considered to be inactive when time has expired and no cars are on a 'flying lap'. A race session is considered to be active once the lights go green and is considered inactive once all drivers whose cars remain on track have completed the race. As soon as a session goes inactive or an event administrator declares chat to be open, drivers are free to post chat messages. Drivers are expected to refrain from posting any offensive or insulting chat messages.

*Administrators will declare chat sessions open, and also when chat sessions are closed

. Race lines
Drivers are required to keep at least 2 wheels on the race track at all times. Consistent abuse may result in disqualification and no scoring for that race. Drivers who accidental shortcutted a corner must not gain positions on drivers who properly made the corner, and must slow and wait to pull behind any cars that they may have passed while off the racetrack.

Drivers that have accidently run off track must make sure only to get back to the track without blocking/hindering any other driver's race line - even if that eventually means to let pass the entire crowd.

Complaints on race incidents
  • Don't ever put up any complaints about race incidents or other driver's behaviour publicly in the race chat, on the forum or in the pre/post-race chat !

  • Send in your complaint only after at least 24 hours after the race. Take that 24h to calm down and think twice. Any complaint send in with less than 24h passed since race end will be ignored.

  • Depending on what kind of complaint you have filed in, You may be asked for prove in form of your race replay or screenshots. Other drivers' replays may be required as well. All parties involved in the complaint will be asked for a statement.

  • The decision on the complaint is up to Race Admin. All people directly involved will get informed about decisions; any penalty will be made public.

Penalties
Penalties can/will be given as follows
  • warning: for causing dangerous situations/bending rules or a singular minor incident; doesn't necessarily need to have been an incident though.
  • point loss: for regular shortcutting
  • 10 pos back at start: for causing minor incidents (little/no damage, no loss of positions)
  • last gridplace start: for causing minor incidents (minor damage/loss of positions) excessive chatting
  • drive-through: for causing medium incidents, frequently minor incidents, overtaking offtrack or shortcutting
  • disqualification: for causing major incidents, frequently medium incidents, regular shortcutting
  • race ban: on frequently causing medium or major incidents
  • series ban: serious misbehavior/violating series rules, intentional wrecking
There doesn't neccessarily need to be any complaint; there will be investigations on any race incident that's visible on server replay. If race admin had been involved in a race incident, he cannot take part in the corresponding decisions. Thus other drivers will be asked for investigating and taking up decision
